Two great games are currently available from
buckingham [business] english:

Business Bluff and Cost-a-Verb.

Business Bluff

We are proud to present Business Bluff, a functional English language game.

An EFL, ELT, ESL, ESOL or TEFL resource that can be played by 2 or more players, individually or in teams, at CEF level A2 (pre-intermediate) and above.

Players take a card; on each card there is the unique organisation’s domain name and what they do. There are also 2 lies about the organisation’s core business activity.

The idea is at learners have to guess the correct business activity of the organisation in question. Full instructions are included.

Business Bluff is a hugely enjoyable game that can equally be played in any situation where teams have to work together to negotiate the answer.

The game is flexible and not just restricted to EFL, ELT, ESL, ESOL or TEFL, this is an all round game that can be played by families and friends anywhere in the world.

Here is an example (not included in actual game) to give you a better idea:

buckinghamenglish.com

Business: An innovative TEFL resource provider.

Bluff: A company specialising in tours of Buckingham Palace.

Bluff: An English language school based in Buckingham, England.

You can see from the above example how easy it is to set up and use.

Learners love the game as it gives them a chance to have a bit of fun while trying to lie convincingly; they also have to negotiate within their teams to work out which answer from the opposition is correct.

There are several ways in which this communicative and functional game can be played.

It can also be customised to include your organisation and subsidiaries, your rivals, an entire business park or an industrial estate.

We have done this for the Parque Tecnólogico de Andalucía, Spain, one of our most successful examples to date.

Details: Business Bluff will be sent in two files, instructions and game cards. Instructions are 15KB and the game cards are 47KB.

You will have to cut the game cards out yourself.

Price: £4.99 as a pdf download and available exclusively through this page and sometimes on ebay.

Cost-a-Verb

Cost-a-Verb is perhaps one of the best functional English grammar games on the market.

Cost-a-Verb is our best selling EFL, ELT, ESL, ESOL or TEFL resource that can be played by 2 or more players individually or in teams at any CEF level (A1, elementary, and above).

You decide the level of difficulty and the tenses that are to be practised before the game begins, which means any TEFL learner can play.

This EFL, ELT, ESL, ESOL or TEFL resource is a board game in which learners have to guess if a sentence is correct or incorrect.

Learners score ‘euros’ as they play, which adds a competitive element to the game, depending on the verb they have landed on and whether they have to write a correct or an incorrect sentence in the tense they have chosen.

They choose the tense from a stack of tense cards that also contain modal verbs for added tensions!

Learners must also keep a record of their incoming and outgoing euros as they play.

This is a hugely enjoyable English tense and verb game.

Feedback from this game has so far been 100% positive.

Game includes:

Board, accounts sheet, correct / incorrect cards, tense cards and full instructions.

This is very easy to set up and learners love practicing their tenses while having fun. You also have the added advantage of being able to play this tense game over and over again, as the learners progress, by changing the tenses they play with.

Details: Cost-a-Verb will be sent in five separate files: instructions (13KB), Cost-a-Verb cards (15KB), Cost-a-Verb board (16KB), accounts sheet (7KB) and Cost-a-Verb backs (7KB).

You will have to cut the game cards out yourself.
